We offer a bespoke, context driven, and collaborative garden design service that is tailored to the clients needs
The Process
Our approach is a simple one. Firstly to gain an understanding of the existing qualities of the landscape and its context, and secondly to gain an understanding of the client and their functional and aesthetic aspirations for the space. Through a combination of the two lines of enquiry we work together to create a truly unique garden that is tailored to both the client’s needs and the garden’s setting.
An Iterative Approach:
1 Initial Consultation
This is where we introduce ourselves, get to know each other a little, and discuss the aspiration for the project. We establish a brief and an outline budget for the project. This is our first viewing of the garden so a site walk around and brief photographic survey will be carried out.
2 Site Survey and Analysis
On small to medium sized sites, we can carry out the survey. On larger, more complex sites we will ask that a topographic surveyor carries out a survey and provides us with the relevant information. We perform a full analysis of the site and collate information such as levels, drainage, circulation and views. This stage will inform the design and ensures the garden responds to the physical environment of the garden
3 Concept Design
We usually prepare two sketch plans for the garden accompanied by supporting images that suggest the look, feel, and materiality of the garden. Through discussion with the client we either select one option for development, or combine preferred elements from the two sketches to take forward for the final garden plan.
4 Detailed Design
This is where we prepare a full specification of the garden and provide a comprehensive itinerary of materials for approval of the client. Once materials are agreed a full costing can be prepared.
5 Implementation
Upon agreement of the final design and delivery fee we organise a start date and build the garden. An on-going dialogue between ourselves and the client will ensure regular progress updates are reported. Once completed we hand over the new garden to the client.
